About me

My name is Tianna Mañón and this blog is part of a 15-weeklong project for my Multiplatform class at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

I will be focusing on the human side of prison. Therefore, I will be looking at people affected by the incarceration system and trying to breathe life into the statistics that I provide.

I have never been to jail, nor has any immediate friends or family gone to jail. I think all too often this reasoning allows people to ignore the incarceration system because they don't deal with it directly. However, understanding the incarceration system, the demographics of prisoners, and the lives broken up by these crimes is something we can all learn from and live better as a result of.

Most importantly, I have found that as I speak to people, as I read more information, and look at statistics, I appreciate my own life much more. I also have a better understanding and more sympathy for those impacted by the prison system.
